You might have noticed that emojis are showing up as part of category names. There isn't anything special going on with this—it is just me seeing how well the inclusion of inline emojis works.

This sort of thing is a good candidate for getting feedback. Until I have feedback, I won't do anything to prevent the use of emojis wherever strings are allowed. As a future enhancement, the ability to have an icon associated with categories could be interesting.

Other updates

Some of the other things going on include finishing up the basic blog functionality: creating the necessary DTOs and viewmodels and wiring them up. I'm also working on implementing a dynamic breadcrumb and menu solution. The old version of the blog engine uses a lightly customized version MvcSiteMapProvider, which doesn't support .NET Core ☹️. I am investigating the use of Cloudscribe.Web.Navigation, which should provide the functionality I'm looking for. Once I have these items in place, it will be time for me to start "dog fooding" the application on my own site.

Looking a little further out, adding auth capabilities would be next in line, and getting started on the admin site.
